Summary : The article is about increasingly common new parenting arrangements, involving egg and sperm donation or surrogacy. I suggest that, beyond the science of what is possible, we have not yet addressed how these relationships will be navigated in the future. The article considers case-scenarios I have come across in my legal career that highlight the different perspectives - of the donor, the social parent and the child - and the challenges in reconciling those interests.
